Sauvignon Blanc is an indigenous grape to the southeast of France, and it's name is derived from the French sauvage ("wild") and blanc ("white"). Some New World vineyards call this grape Fumé Blanc, a name coined by Robert Mondavi. Depending on the climate the grape is planted in, the flavor profile can range from grassy to tropical.
